On 14th of March the fourth issue in the stamp series of Icelandic Contemporary Design was issued by the Iceland Post. This year it is dedicated to graphic design.
The stamps are designed by graphic designer Örn Smári Gíslason and the motifs are the work of four young graphic designers, Sigurdur Oddsson, Ragnar Freyr, Ran Flygenring and Siggi Eggertsson.
The Icelandic Design Centre initiated collaboration between Iceland Post and the Association of Icelandic Graphic Designers and the stamps were a part of the Association’s 60th Anniversary Exhibition at the Reykjavik Art Museum.

Mortality as Inspiration (by James Victore)
Technology is no longer witchcraft to be feared by the masses. We’ve grown accustomed to having phones, tablets, and computers around us to do things. With both visual and interaction design, we’re nearly past the point of real-world metaphors being useful, and the simplest representation is usually best.— The Future of Design — The Brooks Review
I was approached for a video interview in August 2012 by a new design and clothing venture from Boston called Nomadic Apparel. In the video I awkwardly talk about how I started as a designer, some of my recent projects and the Icelandic design scene.
Nomadic Apparel just launched their online store this weekend and started their awesome Siege Engine (parcel) truck that they will be driving around the East Coast in the coming months.
Check out their store for some cool t-shirts, posters and buttons. My high quality prints Rewind and Waste can be found there for mere $10. Use coupon code invasion2013 and knock a few bucks off your order.

A great Photoshop extension for creating pixel accurate grids, midpoints, baselines and margins fast and easy. Highly recommended.
A nice trick to quickly copy color hex value using Photoshop shortcuts.
Why isn’t this in Photoshop already? Fantastic script.
I’m a sucker for inspirational videos. Videos that inspire me to reflect, change or think about the world around me in a new way.
I started collecting these kinds videos I’d watch in a bookmark folder a few years ago. Later I got the idea to start a website around the collection that I could share with family and friends. The Inspivids project was born.
As I am writing this today there are exactly 200 inspirational videos on Inspivids. Categories include Art and Design, Health, Family and Science. I try to post regularly but mostly when I stumble upon something that moves me.
Recently I updated the site a little bit. Both the code and the visuals. It should be a tiny bit faster and browsing it should also be more straight forward. Furthermore, sharing should now be easier on sites like Twitter and Facebook. I still don’t provide share or like buttons though. You’ll have to copy and paste the URL.
Anyways, hope you like it and enjoy these videos. Visit Inspivids.
It’s more like, if I have an idea, what is the tool that I need in order to work with it in a sort of lump of clay way, and sometimes the right tool is pen and paper, because the idea’s really rough, and sometimes the right tool is Photoshop, because the idea is really visual and sensitive to detail. And sometimes the right tool is HTML because it’s more about getting the right elements on the page and functionality.— Ryan Singer from 37signals on software design, workflow, and “Judo” | Nathan Barry
Lots of great Xmas gift ideas for designers and screen workers.
Wow! Seems like Adobe is taking web design in Photoshop to the next level. Copy CSS? CSS swatches? Yes please! (I wonder how these changes affect CSS Hat?)
By far the best Responsive design testing tool I’ve tried. Works as a simple bookmarklet. Get it.
